Overnight stay between factory buildings with a sense of style.
The design hotel
THE NEW YORKER | tempts to a no – man`s land next to the Kölnmesse.
Hidden between dwelling houses and factory buildings the newly opened design hotel
THE NEW YORKER seems to be at the second view an insider tip for particular travellers and design enthusiasts. Only the colourful balconies mark the way beetween the industrial area in the North of Kölnmesse and Kölnarena. This area, which is highly influenced by listed monuments remembered the archited and owner Johannes Adams and his partner Markus Lohaus to such quarters in New York as Soho and Tribecca. This is the delightful background for the dwelling house – built in the sixties- which is now a generous and modern 4-stars-hotel.
Even art exhibitions take place in the integrated function rooms. The interieur – down to table ware – is clear, but always personal and binding. A mixture of interpreted classics and self-drafts. Everything fits, nothing is too much. A lucky chance for the district and it`s visitors.

Big Apple
They are very rarely , these discoveries in your own city. One of them is
THE NEW YORKER | HOTEL. Like an oasis of peace it stands out in the middle of the industrial area of Deutz, setting it`s counterpoint and owing it it`s special attraction. The owner and architect, Mr.Johannes Adams, a traveller himself, created a real place of hospitality in this unusual area. 37 rooms and 3 junior suites - as particular designed as lobby , bar and function rooms - an exceptional and unique garden ... these are the things that let you feel at home immediately.
And the citizens of Cologne? They look forward to the New Yorker Coffee shop, which will be opened soon. And starting in autumn you can enjoy exciting author readings.
Every third Thursday in the hotel. See you there
„Lebensart“ (Autumn / Winter 2002)
THE NEW YORKER | Köln
Design: Johannes Adams
Like an oasis of peace it stands out in the middle of the industrial area of Deutz. The attraction of the hotel is not only indebted to the near exhibition center, but also to the ambience, which has been created by Johannes Adams.
After a longer stay in New York he got inspired by its urban style. The 40 rooms and 3 suites are designed in friendly colours and classical and modern furnitures. With its unusual garden, especially in this area, and regular exibithions and readings it is very popular.

Lifestyle-Hotel The New Yorker Hotel
Due the many trips to N.Y. there was no doubt about the hotel name for the owners Johannes Adams and Ian Folker.. The enviroment with its industrial area and factory buildings reminds of the Big Apple. Although the furnishing is quiet minimalistic Adams and Folker take care to offer their guests what they themself always missed on their trips: To feel at home. The atmosphere is completed by regular art exhibitions and author readings.
„Prinz“ (December 2003)
The New Yorker
On the “wrong” side of the river (for fair visitors actually the right one) you will find this modern hotel with its three salient cubes on the roof. The design is very juvenile and refreshing:
A casual coffee bar, a lounge with cozy chairs, friendly breakfast room which can also be used as a conference room.Pop art all around. The standard rooms are styled in white, the upper categories are held in warm wood colours.Little fitness area with a sauna.

Big Apple
Welcome to New York: Where former factory buildings made of steel and bricks spread their paticular flairs, where the DOM can be seen and the river Rhine is close by, there is the place where Johannes Adams has found his little piece of Manhattan. The architect who has lived himself many years in that big city next to the Hudson river transformed a dwelling house into a hotel with boarding house. Even the cologne citizens are welcome: They meet each other for litural reading in the hotel lounge or library – sometimes even in the workout area –for private or business meetings and for conferences in minimalistic designed function rooms. Or they enjoy the beautiful garden as well as exhibitions, which are presented in the New Yorker basement, for example the exceptional light museum.
Welcome to Cologne – welcome to The New Yorker !
